The Minnesota Land Trust contracted Rock Leaf to write three habitat management plans (HMPs) for properties ranging in size from 75 acres to 160 acres within Otter Tail, Benton, and Sherburne counties.

This process included site visits to identify the native plant communities (NPCs), other land cover types, and best management practices. Rock Leaf staff identified six unique NPCs and navigated various land covers such as pine plantations, food plots, restored grasslands, and prairie-woodland complexes.

Once the plant communities were understood, Rock Leaf staff considered the ecology, easement restrictions, and landowner requests to determine recommended management practices, which include but are not limited to native seedings/pluggings, invasive species control, prescribed burns, prescribed grazing, and prescribed mowing/haying where appropriate.
