vapor sampling

Rock Leaf, in conjunction with a consulting engineering firm, planned and executed a geological and site characterization of two properties measuring approximately 12 acres owned by the City of Bemidji. Rock Leaf utilized direct push technology to gather data, helping characterize the extent of the subsurface contamination. In turn this gave users an in-depth understanding of site contamination and helped build a conceptual site model for remedial actions. Once the site contamination model was built, this opened options for remediation methodology and also lended itself to lower costs and a more precise and targeted approach to the site remediation.

Rock Leaf performed additional vapor sampling as part of a Limited Site Investigation (LSI) for a Little Falls residential home. This project involved testing soil and water samples for volatile organic compounds (VOCs). To do so, Rock Leaf’s geologist drilled five different sampling points to determine the lateral extent from the known source of potential contamination: an old, decommissioned fuel tank that had recently been removed. Lab results found some diesel range organics (DRO) contamination in the water and high soil vapor levels. Rock Leaf’s vapor sampling helped correct potential hazards to human health.
